Multiple Wall and Ceiling Heights in One Room

Postby SeanOC » March 30th, 2018, 12:54 am

I have recently purchased Live Home 3D Mac and am struggling with the apparent limitation that the walls for each room (and, in fact, for all rooms on the same storey) must be the same height.
The area of my house that I am trying to model (for renovations) is open-plan, and involves three different ceiling heights including two flat ceilings and one ceiling/skylight sloping at approximately 45 degrees - consequently, the walls vary in height and also involve a 45 degree angle.
The external roof (which I also need to model) follows the same contour, as there is no upper storey on this part of the house.
Happy to pay more to upgrade to the "Pro" version, but only if someone can guarantee that this functionality exists there!
P.S. - I tried to attach photos to clarify the issue, but keep getting a "File too large" error message (for some very small files).

The "Pro" version is much more powerful, and if you could provide some visual reference to clarify your problem, I would certainly try and help you with your design.

Appreciate the response Roustaboutpusher but I don't think your drawings overcome my problem - hopefully the attached photos and extract from existing architectural drawings may help explain.
I am trying to model two levels of flat roof (with correspondingly different ceiling heights), connected by horizontal windows and a diagonal skylight. (It sounds a lot more complicated than the reality!!)

I think I understand your project now, and it will need extensive use of both building blocks and the custom roof tool. None of those are available in the standard version of lh3d. I'm going away for one week, but will be willing to give it a try when I return.

Sorry it took a while before I had the chance. This is what I was able to do. It is not as straightforward as a more conventional shape.
1+2 = shapes from the shapes library
3. = loft wall
4+5 = shed roof on the current story. 45 degrees with an added roof segment above, set to 3 degrees.
6 = story wall
7+8 = wall panels extracted from the story wall
