Sync failure

Postby kevolo » November 8th, 2017, 3:32 am

After neglecting to do backups for a couple of months, GetBackup now fails to backup or sync to my external drive. At first it was hanging at various percentages, so I removed cache directories from the list of included items to sync. After trying to change what was getting backed up multiple times I've gotten GetBackup to go all the way to 100%, but it tells me that the backup failed.

I've discovered that my external drive will not accept any new files when copying from the finder either, and gives me an error that the "operation can't be completed - An unexpected error occurred error code -32731".

When I try to copy files from the external drive, I get unable to find file errors for a large number of files.

1. This application did work for me for about 2 months.
2. I've only used this external with GetBackup.
3. The drive is not full, has 1.83 TB available space.
4. I tried Disk utility, it says it cannot repair my drive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

p.s. I tried to add a log file, but the BB complains about the file size.
It starts like this:

Hard drives can fail, which most likely happened with your backup drive.
Try to copy all the information from this disk, if possible, and format it.

Thanks for the reply Igor.
Yeah, it just seemed weird to me at first that it would have failed. I had a separate backup of the data so I'm over it now.
Cheers
