How to make a text transparent

Postby hmazzuto » October 20th, 2016, 9:03 am

Is there a way to make a gradient box, or any image really, but have the text inside transparent so that it is see through THROUGH the gradient box/ image/ background, so that the text is still legible and not just invisible? I couldn't find an image of what Im thinking of... but if you picture the word "SHINE" in the attachment so that it is see through, but you can see the photo underneath it with the letters still outlined basically so you can read it also.

There are several ways you can chose from.

1. Activate the Stroke option for text and switch off its Fill property. Then to make the text look more interesting, apply the shadow or Glow effect with light colors (for your dark background).

2. To combine text with a gradient box, place the text over a rectangle from the Smart Shapes library, or over an image. Then select these two object and choose Layers > Exclude from the main menu. The letters will cut holes in the background image.
