I searched in the app for transparency which I count as basic in a publishing app. No such thing???
What is a even greater mystery: I searched the same phrase in the support forum and found no questions about transparency.
Will somebody point me in the right direction? I simply know I must be wrong.

Hi DD,

There are two terms used for transparency controls: transparency and opacity.

Depending on the object, you need to use one of controls in the Inspector. For example:
- Appearance tab, Opacity - for objects in general. Normally it affects the whole object.
- Appearance tab, Color button in the Fill section. It opens the Colors pane whose Opacity changes the fill colors. Identically, using the Color button for Stroke you can bring up the Opacity slider for frames.
- Color button on the Text lets you change the color and opacity of text.
