Hi Nick
I'm trying to create a new Quartz composition ("Brushes") that uses… brushes making possible selective effects based on what you "brush" (?!).
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work in IT3!

An example from Acorn:
Image
Source Atop is used here, just to make "effect" easily visible.

From Pixelmator:
Image
Multiply is used here, just to demonstrate an "easy" way to create masks.

From IT3:
Image
As you can see, the brush is correctly drawn with its default properties (position, size and color) but when moved, only the current brush is re-drawn.

This composition is based on a custom patch from Apple (/System/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Patches/Circle.qtz" (a Snow Leopard only patch!)) placed in the "Render in Image" patch with "Feedback Rendering" enabled. Its protocol is set to "Image Filter" so I don't think this is a problem with the composition itself (it works with Acorn and Pixelmator as seen above).
Any idea?

The quartz composition you have created requires the program update the image on the canvas instantly. Image Tricks doesn't allow this. You have to click Apply to make any changes. In future versions we'll return to this issue and if possible support such compositions.
