Pringer: Epson Stylus Photo 900
OS: Snow Leopard

First, the "Calibrate Printer" option in the File menu is grayed out and thus unavailable. The only way I can calibrate is to select Print then click Calibrate in the resulting dialog.

Second, the calibration marks on the test page aren't even close. If I enter the numbers on the sheet, the resulting print is far off.

Hi,

The option to calibrate may be disabled because:
1. The Assistant is open. Close it.
2. You haven't selected any paper or CD/DVD tray. By default the "Standard" media is selected. You should open the Design Element tab in the Inspector (Cmd-1), click the Change Layout button, and select the paper or tray type that you are going to use.

The calibration marks may be too far if:
1. You haven't selected the proper paper or tray. See item "2" above.
2. The paper wasn't inserted correctly into the printer (upside-down).
3. The guides of the paper tray weren't set tight enough letting the paper move around.
