If this version 2.3.2 works with Snow Leopard, will it also work with Leopard Mac OS X 10.5.6 as well?

I have not received my Snow Leopard update disk yet and I am hesitant to install the Dis Cover v.2.3.2 version yet.

Snow Leopard driver still a problem for Disc Cover 2.3.2 (version 461). After submitting the CD/DVD (printing directly on a DVD disc for an Epson RX580), 'Activity Monitor' shows over 100% CPU activity, 'Not Responding'. After about 3 minutes the print dialog DOES come up, but there is still obviously some problems with the Snow Leopard driver. I have an 8 core Mac Pro with 12GB on RAM. I really need Disc Cover to work since the Epson Print CD V2.0 crashes and unusable under Snow Leopard.

Hi gwieland,

You can try to delete the Epson Easy Print software (this worked for several our users), or you can install an alternative printer driver Gutenprint which can be found on the Mac OS installation disc. I cannot guarantee that Gutenprint will print CD/DVD on Epson RX580.

I'm having the same problem with the long time lag before the drop-down printer sheet appears. I was using RE 2.3.2, and I upgraded to the 2.3.2 Standard Edition, hoping that that would help, but it doesn't. I did install Epson Easy Print, but I can't seem to find it to delete it. How does one go about removing this software?

I don't know how to uninstall Epson Easy Print. Possibly, it will work if you delete the printer from the System Preferences > Print & Fax, and then install it again. Also, you can click the Options and Supplies button and try to select another driver in the Driver tab.

I tried that, but it didn't help. I hope that an update to fix this will be forthcoming, because it really causes problems if one is printing labels on a large number of discs.

It seems that you have to wait until Epson create an update.

Epson already has an update. The problem seems to occur only with Disc Cover. Printing even works as it should with another BeLight application that I have, Business Card Composer. So I think that it's a BeLight problem and not an Epson problem.

komponist, could you tell us printer model you are using? Since some of the Epson printer drivers are still running under Rosetta (PPC emulation for Intel processors; Artisan 50 drivers are reported at the moment as being PPC) we can't be sure that it will work stable. Also there are some issues with EasyPrint, so you might need to remove it, but how - I guess it is a question to Epson rather to us, unfortunately.

This is what one of our users wrote about R280. Maybe this will help you.
I was able to fix the problem by changing printer drivers.

The driver that works (there may be others) is:

"Epson Stylus Phnoto R280 - Gutenprint v5.2.3"

which is part of OS 10.6.1.

FYI, the program would hang whenever I tried to print.

Since the I visited the Epson site again and downloaded v3.68 of the driver (posted 9/11/09). That also works. ;-)

I tried both the Gutenprint driver and the new Epson driver (and I followed Epson's suggestion to uninstall the Epson software, reinstall 10.6, and reinstall the Epson software), but nothing worked.

As I said earlier, I can still print from Disc Cover 2.3.2. The problem is the horrendously long delay before the printer sheet appears. I'll learn to live with it until *someone* can fix it -- because I'll go to great lengths to avoid using Epson's Print CD software and keep using Disc Cover. But I hope it gets fixed before long.

I am also seeing this issue with an Epson PX800FW under SL in the UK.

Have tried to switch to the Gutenprint driver as an alternative but you can't choose it until after the long delay. Not sure I've understood the workaround in that case.

The PX800FW works fine in SL otherwise.
