Document Creation Workflow

These are basic steps of the document creation process.
  1. Create a new document:
  2. Set up paper format and page margins. If you want to print a booklet, see tips in the Booklet Printing section.
    Settings are located in the program Preferences dialog and in in the Document Setup dialog.

  3. Decide if you need to use master pages. Master pages let you keep the page layout more simple when the same object(s) repeats on all the pages or on a group of pages (header and footer). Master pages are useful for placing page numbers. Document pages use guidelines and page margins of the corresponding master page.
    Add master pages into the document and apply them to document pages.

  4. Add some number of pages into the document. Later you can add new pages or remove unnecessary pages.
    Navigate the document using the Pages Preview panel.

  5. Add text and images onto pages.
    To move between page layers, use the View > Background (Foreground) menu item.

  6. Print or export your document. Options that concern printing, can be found in the program Preferences.
