The Inspector Window

The Inspector is a floating window that lets changing object properties, control cameras and manage storeys. The Inspector window is sensitive to the object selection: it shows the current settings for this object and lets you modify them.

To open the Inspector window, click on the Show Inspector command in the Window menu or use the "i" toolbar button, or press Cmd-I.


Object Properties

The Object Properties tab contains tools to control most of the object properties.
To open the tab, choose Window > Inspector > Object Properties.

The properties are displayed in sets for the following groups of objects:

When you select an object, the program opens the corresponding set of properties. To choose a property sets manually, use the drop- down list at the top of the Object Properties tab.

Materials

The Materials tab lets you change materials of objects and create new materials.
To open the tab, choose Window > Inspector > Materials.

2D Properties

2D Properties

The 2D Properties tab lets you specify the appearance of objects in the 2D view.
To open the tab, choose Window > Inspector > 2D Properties.

The Drawing controls can only be applied to drawn objects: walls, ceilings and floors. They modify the color of outlines, filling, color and type of the fill pattern.

The Opacity controls let you changing the opacity of images imported placed on the floor plan.

The Text Annotations controls are used for formatting annotation text.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Cameras Properties

Camera Properties

The Cameras tab lists all the cameras in the current project: pre-defined, custom and movie cameras.
To open the tab, choose Window > Inspector > Cameras.

Pre-defined cameras are always present in the list. Custom cameras and movie cameras can be added and removed by the user.

In the picture:

1 – Predefined Cameras – list of pre-defined cameras. Their quantity is constant. Their location in the 3D space cannot be changed.

2 – User Cameras – list of custom cameras. For more information, see Using Cameras.

3 – Movie Tracks – list of movie tracks added into your project. Subitems of each movie track are movie cameras. For more information, see Creation of Movies.

4 – Delete button – lets you delete selected custom cameras, movie tracks and movie cameras.

5 – Add Movie Track from 3D Viewpoint / Add Movie Camera from 3D Viewpoint – lets you add a movie camera to existing movie track or create a new track. The button is activated when the 3D view is visible.
If a movie track or a movie camera is selected in the list, clicking the button add a new camera to the current movie track. Otherwise a new move track is created.
The location and orientation of the added camera corresponds the current 3D view.

6 – Add Movie Camera from 3D Viewpoint – lets you add a new camera. The location and orientation of the added camera corresponds the current 3D view.

7 – Record Movie... – start the process of creation a movie from the selected movie track.

 

The Inspector lets you select any existing camera including movie cameras. The selected camera defines what is displayed in the 3D view.

New cameras and movie tracks get the default name when added. To change the name, double-click it.

 

Light Properties

The Light Properties tab controls light sources.
To open the tab, choose Window > Inspector > Light Properties.

Light properties

1 – Daytime drop-down list – lets you select phases of the daylight

2 – Sun – a light source that emulates sunlight

3 – Selected light source

4 – Parameters of the selected light source

To change brightness or color of a light source, select it in the list. To turn the light on/off, click the "bulb" icon.

Building Properties

Building tab

The Building Properties tab lets you adding and removing floors. You can also change the storey and slab height. Any of floors can be selected as the ground level.

To open the tab, choose Window > Inspector > Building Properties.

1 – The thumbnail of a floor.

2 – The current floor thumbnail has a blue frame. Click on a thumbnail to select another floor. The 2D view displays the floor plan of a selected floor.

3 – This icon identifies the ground floor. To change the ground floor, select another floor and click button (5).

4 – Delete the selected floor.

5 – Choose the selected floor as the ground floor.

6 – Add a floor below the selected one.

7 – Add a floor above the selected one.

8 – Slab thickness. Select a floor to change its slab thickness.

9 – Storey height. Select a floor to change its height.

 

Each thumbnail displays the plan of the corresponding floor (only walls are shown). When you bring the mouse cursor over thumbnails, they tern to you.

When you add a floor, the program copies outer walls (if they are) from the selected floor onto a new one.
