FAQ
General Information
On what Macs does Labels & Addresses work?
It will run on Mac OS X v.10.4.11 and higher.
What if I don't have any of my own images?
You have an option to search and download images from the Web, or use the internal clipart library. Labels & Addresses contains 1,000 clipart images (40,000+ high-quality images with Extras Pack) sorted into categories. Among them there are vector images scalable to any size and photo objects with transparent background that can be applied to any picture to create diverse designs. You'll surely find something to fit your taste.
Where can I find my additional clipart after installing the Extras Pack?
After successfully installing the Extras Pack, images will automatically be added to BeLight image library. Go to Clipart tab in the Source Panel (left of the canvas) to preview and use these pictures.
Importing Addresses
Where can I import contacts from?
The main address source is Apple Address Book. Also, you can import from Entourage, Now Contact, Eudora, text files (tab- or comma- delimited), vCard files, Excel, Numbers and FileMaker files (these applications must be installed on your computer).
How do I choose one of several databases of Now Contact?
Labels & Addresses uses the primary contact file. That's the file that opens when you launch Now Contact. To make a contact file primary, launch Now Contact and choose File > Open. In the dialog, select the file you wish to make primary, enable the “Make this file primary” option and click Open. Labels & Addresses can only get data from the primary Now Contact file. It won't work if no file has been specified as primary.
How do I copy an address from a text file or e-mail and paste it in Labels & Addresses?
Copy an address from the source text. Select File > Paste as Address in the menu of Labels & Addresses. The program will analyze the address and put the name, ZIP code and other parts in the corresponding data fields. Adding an address this way lets you benefit from automated address formatting. As an alternative method, you can paste an address as plain text using the Edit > Paste menu command. This method doesn't allow you to use automatic address formatting, adding a postal barcode and some other features.
Importing contacts from Entourage takes too long. Why?
Labels & Addresses uses AppleScript to import data from Entourage and other contact managers. This technology is slow in itself, so importing a large number of contacts takes time. For this reason, Labels & Addresses caches the imported data. The next time you launch Labels & Addresses and choose “Entourage” as the source of contacts, Labels & Addresses will show the contacts stored in the cache. If you have a list of contacts that doesn't change a lot, this method should work all right, but you will need to re-import the information if you modify the file. To do this, click the Update button in the Source panel.
How can I import contacts from my AppleWorks database?
You can save your database as a tab-delimited text file and then import it into Labels & Addresses. In AppleWorks, choose Save As... from the File menu. In the File Format pull-down at the bottom of the dialog choose ASCII Text, and click Save. Your database will be saved as a tab-delimited text file.
I usually use 30-40 records from my 800-record Excel database. How can I simplify access to those 30 records?
If you work with more or less the same group of persons, the most appropriate way is to add them to the internal database My Recipients. It lets you edit personal data without running an external database and is better for keeping addresses and other personal information that you often use.
Working with Addresses
Why is the address formatted differently for different countries?
Labels & Addresses automatically formats the address according to the postal standards of the destination country. Labels & Addresses does that based on the name in the Country field of the address panel.
How can I automatically reduce the size of long addresses that don't fit labels?
In the Print dialog, select the Address AutoResize check box.
Can I save and use several print lists?
Sure. Labels & Addresses can keep several print lists in the internal Print List database. The program saves all print lists and loads them upon launch. Any print list can be easily selected in the Print dialog.
Printing Labels
The paper I use is not in the list of supported label stocks. What should I do?
Labels & Addresses supports custom paper layouts (size and arrangement of labels and envelopes). So, you can print labels of non-standard size or add support for new label stocks. To configure a custom layout, choose Change Layout from the File menu and switch to the Custom tab.
Graphics
Can I display my own images in the Clipart Panel?
No problem! Select Window > Import > Custom Folder in the menu. Navigate to the folder you want and its contents will be displayed in the left part of the document window, the same place as the built-in clipart collection.
If you store your photos in iPhoto, you can access, view and use them in the Clipart Panel. In the Pictures section select iPhoto and choose an event from the drop-down list.
How can I match the color of one object to the color of another?
Matching colors in Labels & Addresses is actually quite simple. Let's say you have two triangles. One of them is green, and you want to match the other triangle to it. Simply select the one that is not green and click on the color button in the Fill & Shadow tab of the Inspector. Then click the magnifying glass next to the largest color block in the window that popped up and place the mouse over the green one and click the left button. The other object automatically takes on the color of the one you just clicked. Pretty cool, huh?

Does the licensed version turn off the watermark “Labels & Addresses Trial Version”?
This watermark will disappear immediately after you purchase the full licensed version of the software and register it with the license code. To register, please select Labels & Addresses > License in the menu bar and enter your name and license code there.
The license code you gave me isn't being accepted by my program. How can I register it?
