Counter fields are used for automatically numbering labels or envelopes when printing. To add a counter field, choose Insert > Counter in the menu bar or click the Insert Data Field button in the tool bar and pick up the Counter field in the pop-up menu.
Counter parameters are displayed in the Text tab of the Inspector.
Starting Number defines the initial value.
Increment defines the interval between numbers in succession (e.g. if you would like to obtain a row of figures such as 10, 20, 30 and so on, enter 10).
To have a constant quantity of digits, set it in Minimum Digits. If necessary, leading zeros will be added to the beginning of numbers. If you set Minimum Digits to 4, number 3 will be converted to 0003, and 346 to 0346.
Note that numbers aren't displayed on the canvas, but appear in the print preview and in print.
