Do you remember the Core Image
demo at WWDC 2004? There was that little application called “Core Image Fun
House” they used to demo the new core image feature. Later the fun house was
included with Tiger to play around for everyone (…/Developer/Applications/Graphics Tools/).

While Core Image was done for OS X developers to use in their apps and the fun
house not much more than a fun little application to play around with the different
filters, many expected something like Photoshop sooner or later from Apple or some
other dev house. Now that didn’t happen for various reasons, but at least
there’s now a small and free application that will find some users here and
there.
The application I’m talking about is Image Tricks. Basically just an interface to the core image filters and
definitely not a replacement for Photoshop, but if you just need to optimize and enhance
some of your digicam shots from time to time, than maybe this very simple and clean
application could be exactly what you need.
