Editing Images

Opening and Saving Images

Images can be taken from:

Appropriate commands can be found in the File menu and on the toolbar.

Opening a Graphic File

To open a graphic file, choose File > Open in the menu and then select an image file to open. Or use the Open button in the toolbar. Also, you can drag and drop image from other programs into Image Tricks window.

The program supports standard input file formats such as PDF, EPS, TIFF, PNG, GIF, JPEG.

Using the Clipboard

To open an image from the Clipboard in the current window, select Edit > Paste in the menu.

To open an image from the Clipboard in a new window, select File > New from Clipboard in the menu.

To copy an image from Image Tricks to other application, click the Copy button on the toolbar or select Edit > Copy in the menu. Then choose the Paste command in other program to insert an image.

Saving Images

To save an image, select File > Save in the menu. Then select the file format. You can save your image to PDF, TIFF, PNG, GIF and JPEG file formats.

Before saving or exporting your image, you can change the image size by clicking the Size button in the toolbar.

To avoid overwriting your image by mistake, enable the Request Saving Confirmation option in the program Preferences.

Note that the saving function can be locked if a "Pro" tool is selected in an unregistered copy of the program.

Image exporting options include the possibility to set up the image size that is different from the image dimensions in the program. The image proportions are always constrained.

The Use Background Color option fills the transparent parts of the image with the background color. See Previewing Images on a Colored Background for more details.

Sharing Images

To share the currently open image with other people, click the Share button in the toolbar and select one of the available programs or services.
