How to start and create cards
Where Can I Find the Registration Code?
Owners of the download version of the program are getting the registration (license) code in the purchase confirmation e-mail.
Owners of the boxed version receive the code inside the product package. The code is printed on the back side of CD's envelope.
The license code you gave me isn't being accepted by my program. How can I register it?
Please carefully Copy&Paste your license code into the License dialog. Or, if you have boxed edition, enter it manually —
be attentive: don't use 'O' character, type only 0 (zero) digit in the license code. Please pay attention that there is also no
capital letter 'I', but only 1 (one) digit in the license code.
How can I make vertical business cards? Can I change horizontal cards into vertical ones?
We advise you to use Assistant (vertical card designs are displayed in Plain Text category, and also in some
other categories — you'll see them in Preview). If you wish to turn a horizontaldesign into a vertical, use
Orientation option of the CardProperties dialog (menu
File / Card Properties). Then move all fields and images manually.
My logo is an .eps file. How can I add it tomy card?
If you use Mac OS X 10.3 Panther, you can simply drag-and-drop the logo file into Business Card Composer. Jaguar users can do
the following: Save your logo as PDF from the application, used for its creation (or other graphical package). Then in Business
Card Composer, choose the File->Place Image command to insert this PDF image into
the card. The quality will not be lost.
Can I add my own artwork to the images supplied in the application?
Yes. Select "Custom Folder" in the collection switch. Navigate to the folder you wish and its contents will be displayed
in the left part of the document window, same as a built-in clipart collection.
Can I use the design of my card for other cards I make?
Sure. Simply drag and drop the needed person from Apple Address Book into your card. All data will be substituted. If the needed
person isn't stored in your Address Book, store his data there —they can be used in other applications.
Can I use text symbols as clipart?
You have discovered a new source of good-looking cliparts! You can use symbols from the Mac OS X symbol fonts. In the Font Panel
select Show Characters from the pop-up menu. You'll get Character Palette window. Drag&Drop symbols to your card. Or toggle
on the text editing mode and double-click on the symbol. You can easily resize, color and add shadow to this image.
How can I make all objects the same color as that one?
It's easy! Select the required object. Its color buttons in the Properties window will get its color. Drag&Drop the color
with the mouse to assign it to other objects.
Printing cards
When I print cards with background images, there's a slight imprecision in print. What should I do?
To print fully covered business cards, use the paper with spacing between cards. The card is automatically stretched for extra
1 mm. Slight imperfection in positioning is covered by this extra space. More about business card paper.
Can I print my cards in the print shop?
Sure. You can have your business cards printed and delivered to you by an online print shop. After you select the "Order
Cards Online…" item from the File menu, you get into the Web page with the instructions on how to prepare your file
and submit it to the online print shop.
The paper I use is not in the list of supported card stocks. What should I do?
Starting from version 2.0 Business Card Composer supports custom paper layouts (size and arrangement of cards on the page) for
regular and CD-R business cards. So now you can print cards of non-standard form or add support for new card stocks. To
configure a custom layout,
choose ''Card Properties'' from the File menu and switch to the Custom Layouts
tab.

Is there an easy way to print the same card for several people?
Sometimes you may need to print just one card for a group of people so all cards have the same design but contain different
personal information (ID cards, badges, etc.). It's easy with Business Card Composer 2.0. Choose File -> Print for
Several People… . The program will show a dialog where you can choose people from your Address Book for whom
you want to print the cards.
