Two Story Great Room

February 18th, 2012, 9:55 pm

Finally managed to get a two story opening, but there are two remaining major problems. There is a trim remmenant at the boundary as well as the windows (which span both stories), only penetrate the wall on the lower level and on the upper level seem to be embedded in the wall.

Also, why is there not a way to trace an existing floor plan, such as those provided by the builders?

Hi troythorpe,

If under "a trim remmenant at the boundary" you mean a horizontal stripe of another color, it's the slab. You need to apply to it the same color that the nearby walls have.

the windows (which span both stories), only penetrate the wall on the lower level and on the upper level seem to be embedded in the wall.

Even after adding a ceiling opening, the lower part of the room resides in one storey and the higher in another. Any of windows or doors cannot create an opening in more than one storey at the same time. What you can do is to place identical windows on each floor so that they look like two halves of a larger one.

Also, why is there not a way to trace an existing floor plan, such as those provided by the builders?

It's not an easy task. We'll add this feature when it's possible.

Did the colors on the slab, and also removed the moulding, but there are still remnants. See the attached image. There slab also has a different material on the exterior and I cannot find how to change it.

Hmm, can't see how to attach the images.

Hi,

To show an image in the forum, you need to upload it to any image sharing web site and post here the link placed between tags. Click on the "{img} tag" link below the edit box to see an example.

To apply a material to the slab, you need to drag one from the Material Library and drop it onto the slab in the 3D view.
