I have a Canon Pixma MG6350 printer. With that printer came a disk tray type J. When printing to disc I can only choose tray type G.

Can you tell me if you are going to update the software so one can choose the correct tray typ?

Can add a "me too" comment please.

I've just bought a Canon MG5450 and have exactly the same problem.

Hi,

Yes, we are going to add the J Tray Type to our list. You can try to create a custom tray with these settings:
Width: 130mm
Height: 255mm
X: 6mm
Y: 60mm

Thanks for the sizes. I've now modified my own settings and will see how it goes.

Will the J Tray Type be included in the next update?

We'll add this tray to the list as soon as possible. We are waiting for "official" dimensions for Tray Type J from Canon.

I just got a Pixma MX925 with a J tray. The J tray is on the list of selectable trays, all appears to be okay in the various print settings but when I hit 'okay' to print, the preview shows an A4 layout and the printer throws a fit and wants me to close the inner tray. It then spits out a paper copy.

Hi AndyMatheson,

You need to check the printing settings. In the system Print dialog, the Presets option should be set to Default Settings. In the Quality and Media section, you need to choose a disc tray or CD/DVD option.

Yes, screen grabs can be helpful. Please select the J tray and then take pictures from the Print dialog of Disc Cover and system Print dialog. In the system one, take also a picture of opened popup menu with the printable disc option.

Are you able to print on CD/DVD using Canon software?

The included software for the Canon is truly dreadful. The printer manual is online only and when I eventually found a reference to printing to disc, it turned out to be instructions on scanning an existing disc in order to print straight back onto a copy. No other instructions can be found, so 'NO' I haven't managed to print from Canons software yet.
How do I get screen grabs into the body of this forum please? It doesn't seem to support copy & paste.

You can send your images to support@belightsoft.com with the link to this topic, or upload them to some file sharing server and post the links. To show an image in your post, you need place the link between the "img" and "/img" tags as shown in this example:

Code: Select all

The Canon web site indicates that the detailed manual can be found on a CD that comes together with the printer.

Hi, I write from Italy. I own a Canon MG6350, firmware updated today. I run Mac OS X 10.8.3. updated. I use Disc Cover 3 RE but I'm not able to print on CD. I saw that you suggest to create a custom tray but I'm not able to do that. It's not available on me. Do you have any idea? Best regards

Hi trngrg,

The last update 3.0.8 (665) supports tray J. You need to choose it from the list of papers and trays.

The manual on the disc is not a detailed one. The only reference in it to CD printing is about how to load a disc into the tray, load the tray into the printer, then after printing, the reverse of that. For further info it refers you to the online manual. Here, they simply tell you how to scan an existing CD in order to print it straight back onto a copy of that disc.

I'm giving up on this printer and returning it to the dealer. My hunt for a better disc-printer continues...........
