Hi,
I tried to add a new category, but when I entered the name nothing happens and the program stops to work. Then I´ve to quit it and to start it again to work with it again.

Any idea?

Hi Markiman,

Please tell me what versions of Concealer and Mac OS are installed on your computer.

The adding of a new category comprises from several steps:
1. Open the list of categories.
2. Click on the + button to add the "New" item.
3. Type in the name for the new category.
4. Close the list of categories.

Which step you cannot pass?

Try to add a new category with a simple numeric name such as "111". Will this work? If yes, tell me what name did you use before. If you cannot create a new category this way:
1. Save the Console log right after your attempt.
2. Try to add a new Note. Close and re-open the program. Will the added Note is present there?

To save the console log, open the Console application from the Applications/Utilities folder. Choose "All Messages" in the left panel. Then choose File > Save a Copy As in the menu of Console to save the log.

Hey Nick,
thanks for your constructive reply!!
The version of Concealer is 1.1 and the OSX is 10.7.4

I tried everything you said, but does´t work.

I created a note and it was there when I opened the program again.

And here is the console log:

Hi Markiman,

Thanks for the logs and other details. On our test computer with the same versions of Concealer and Mac OS, the program works correctly.

Probably the program or repository is corrupt. Try to add categories with a new repository. If this doesn't work, reinstall the program. Here are the steps to repeat:

1. Make sure that Concealer isn't running.

2. In Finder, press Cmd-Shift-G or choose Go > Go to Folder in the menu. Paste this line into the edit box
~/Library/Application Support/Concealer
and click Go.

The Finder will bring you to the repository file "Concealer.bundle". Move it to the Desktop. Don't close the Finder window to be able to access the open folder further.

3. Run Concealer and create a new repository. Without changing anything else, try to add a new category. Use a simple name like "123" or leave the default one "New". Will this work?

If yes, your previous repository can be corrupt, and it is better to transfer your data to the new one. Do some more tests to make sure that the problem won't return. Add a note, file storage and card (their content isn't important). Then add another category, quit and reopen the program and see if all added before is present and functions correctly. Specify the new category for one of items. Does it work?

If with a new repository adding new categories is impossible, reinstall the program as described in the following steps.

4. Quit Concealer and delete:
- the program;
- the repository;
- the preferences file:
~/Library/Preferences/com.belightsoft.Concealer.plist

5. Install Concealer and repeat step 3. Can you add categories this time?

If not, please send your repository to support@belightsoft.com with the link to this topic. The test repository mustn't contain any confidential info. To open it you need to send us the password. Please replace your password by something else ("qqq", for instance) and copy the new password to your email.

Hi Nick,

thanx for your help, now it works!
Step 2. worked.
Only the old datas are gone and I think there is no chance to get them back?
It´s not a big deal to create them new, but many there is a short workaround to get them back (maybe I have a similar problem in the future, then it would be great)?

Best regards and thumbs up for this great support!

Your old database resides in the old Concealer.bundle file. I'm afraid that you need to re-enter your data to the new storage manually.

Just for the case, try to replace the new empty Concealer.bundle file with the old one. If by chance it lets you create categories (I don't think it does) continue using it. If the problem hasn't gone, you will have to begin with a new repository and add all data from scratch.

Nick
