Export naming convention

Postby tehuti » September 18th, 2016, 11:20 pm

I know version 3.0 is about to come out so it's probably a little late for this however...

When exporting (at least to Collada) all the object names are lost in the resulting geometry. No matter what the objects are named in LI3DP they are imported as "node-1200", "node-1201" etc. type naming convention. Unfortunately what this means if you are using the export for some purpose such as importing into a game engine such as Unity, object names are easily lost / replaced with completely different names and as such any markup done to the file is essentially lost.

I wonder if there is a better way to handle the exported names, such as: ObjectName[n]_Part[n] so that a well formatted and named source scene would not lose data in the export/import pipeline?

Hi,

Thanks for an interesting idea. I've added it to our list of suggested features. At the moment, users cannot customize this behavior.
