Problem Selecting Web-Safe Color

Postby RoboDaddy » September 8th, 2014, 5:11 pm

I've had a long-standing issue with Art Text. No matter what I do, I cannot get it to correctly export the colors I select.

For example, I set the fill color of a circle object to the web-safe color "#336699". Then I export to png. But when I open the exported png in Photoshop, the circle color is not "336699". Instead, it is "2E669B". Close, but no cigar. I tried exporting as tiff as well. Same result.

Hi

To preserve the selected color, you need to use the came color profile in Art Text and Photoshop. Art text exports images with sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile. Select this profile when you set the color in Art Text. Before opening the image in Photoshop, make sure that the document profile is sRGB IEC61966-2.1.

A possible workflow in Art Text can be as follows:
1. Find out the R, G and B values in 0-255 range. For example, #336699 is equivalent to R=51, G=102, B=153.

2. In the Color Sliders tab of the Colors pane, click on the square icon to the left from the RGB Sliders popup menu. Select the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile. Selecting a new profile changes the R, G and B color components.

3. Set the red, blue and green colors to the values from step 1.

4. Export to PNG or TIFF.
