LabelWriter 4XL: Large shipping labels don't print right

Thanks for the update which contained the large shipping labels of the Dymo LW 4XL. Unfortunately, the label does not print correctly.

It looks like you've just taken an existing shipping label and increased the size on-screen, with no adjustments at the back-end --i.e. the printing engine.

The result is a label that prints only about 50% of the content on part of the paper...

Thanks for info. Unfortunately we don't have the LabelWriter printer. The programmers will try to sort out what's happening.

Nick, in the specs it says you support Zebra printers. Do you have the GX420t or GX430t and the labels (thermal and transfer) that go with it? I am going to have to review the GX430t in a couple of weeks on OS X and wanted to use L&A for that, but if you don't have the printer and its labels, I'm afraid the same will happen as with the 4XL... Please advise.

Hi,

We have tested our program with Zebra LP 2844. Our printer as well as GX420t and GX430t use EPL and ZPL programming languages. So, it's more probable that they will work with L&A.

The new shipping label that print incorrectly, can you print on it using the Dymo software?

It looks like we should rotate the label 90 degrees. I will give you a new file containing label dimensions. Update this file and try to print the S0904980 label.

Hi, Nick, that's good news. To answer your question: yes, I can print using Dymo software, but what I did notice (and asked about to Dymo's support; so far without a reply) is that these large labels are not to be found in the paper size dialogue box. They just don't appear in the list...

This archive
http://www.belightsoft.com/forum/pictures/la/9354/update_S0904980.zip
contains a patch. Unarchive and run "replace_file.app". Then open L&A and check the list of papers. A new label will appear in the list: "DYMO 4XL Large Shipping Labels - TEST". Try to choose it and print.

Hi Nick,

Just tried this and it gives another result, but not the correct one. I took a photo of the two labels to show you what the original and the patched ones look like.

How can I upload this (large) JPEG to you?

You can use one of online file sharing services to place an image. Than post a link to it. Or, send your photo by email: support@belightsoft.com

Did you try to print with Dymo's software?

Yes, you asked that before; with Dymo no problems. I'll send you the JPEg via e-mail now.

Thanks, I've received your photo. It looks like the problem can be caused by incorrect paper format.

Please open the Page Setup dialog (File > Page Setup) and find this shipping label in the Paper Size drop-down list. Hold the mouse cursor over the label name until a pop-up displays the paper dimensions and the margins. What do you have there?

Earlier I told you this label is not listed in the Paper Size dialogue.

Nick,

I just found the large label in the Paper Size dialogue. It's not listed under S0904980 but under 1744907.

The dimensions read as follows:

10.44 x 15.94

Top: 0.56
Left: 0.14
Bottom: 0.14
Right: 0.13

Sorry about the mix-up --my bad!

Thanks for information! We have updated our file. I've sent it to you by email. There are four test paper templates. Please check if any of them prints fine. For test prints, use my test document. It will help us to see if there are unprintable margins.

Nick
