I have created a list of addresses in Appleworks in a word proccesing format and need to know how to import them into my contacts list so I can create individual labels for each address. I have tried using "Importing Data from Text" help in Mail Factory but it doesn't seem to be working. This is my first attempt at using this software and I need HELP!! thanks for any response

Hi,
Your text file needs to be formatted.
For ex. you can insert a Tab between fields (FirstName, LastName…).
Then add a CR (carriage return) at the end of each record.
ex.:
GenderField(insert a Tab here)FirstNameField(insert a Tab here)LastNameField(insert a Tab here)AddressField(insert a Tab here)CityField(insert a Tab here)ZipCodeField(insert a Tab here)CountryField(insert a CarriageReturn or NewLine here to end the current record)

Other formats may be used (comma or semicolon between fields) but "tabulated" text files are easier to use imho.
An easy way to manipulate text file, see invisible chars (tab, non-breakable space… ), change/convert encoding charset is to use a really nice (free) tool named TextWrangler from Bare Bones Software (http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/index.shtml).
But AW or even Textedit can do the "trick".
Hope this helps.

Addition: the text file must be in the plain text format. RTF, MS Word and other formats will not work.
