When I save a file that has pictures (either clipart or photos) I changed from color to B&W the file keeps the color pictures rather than the black and white settings. Each time I reopen the file, the pictures and clip art show up in color again. How can I save what I have with the pictures in B&W rather than in color? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

By the way, I love this program!

Hi,

Seems like the problem comes from the IT plug-in. So to avoid it, you may:
- convert the image in IT (the application not the plug-in)
- then insert it to your SP document (Insert>Image>From File… or use the Insert Image button from the toolbar).

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Jean-Jaques-

This work-around does work but I wonder why one would have to go though all that to use a feature that is "included" in Swift Publisher? It certainly doesn't make things "swift" when it comes to maintaining B&W images. I hope this can be fixed in future versions.

Hi dugnsand,
I agree with you, it's, of course, a bug.

For BeLight Team:
- this bug doesn't occur with DC 1.33, so it's not necessary a IT plug-in bug but perhaps a combination of SP2 and IT plug-in one.

Hi,
Swift Publisher saves the grayscale image in the document as grayscale.
Do you mean the color mode of the exported image?

Hi Nick,

This is the test I made:
- make a new blank document in SP2
- drag/drop an image in the document (Animals>afrhino2)
- duplicate this image using Option+Drag/drop
- open the first image in IT (plug-in) then using Color Monochrome, I make this image gray using RGB sliders and Generic RGB color profile (I set all three colors to 127). I apply the filter then return to SP2 using the Ok button.
- I do the same with the duplicated image but this time using Grey color mode (grey sliders/Generic Grey color profile) setting the brightness to 50%.
So in my document, the two images are grey.
- I save the document (Finder icon displays the grey rhinos and preview.jpg in the Preview folder of the document package displays grey rhinos too).
But the image file in the package isn't gray (I open it with IT to see that).
- when reopening the SP document in SP, the two rhinos are no more grey but seem like the original image.

Hope this helps.

Nick-

Thanks for responding, but I do not find my copy of SP2 able to save any image in grayscale. What Jean-Jacques describes is what happens to me. I wonder if we're talking about the same thing? What I describe as Black and White may not be what you are calling graysacle. I change a photo or colored clipart by double clicking on it in SP2 and choosing color control - and I move the saturation control to 0. This appears to make the image B&W or "grayscale." Yet, after saving and then reopening the file the clipart or photo comes up in color again. Is there some other "grayscale" command in SP2 that I am unaware of?

Thanks for your help.

Hi all,
Worst: the same problem occurs with all CI filters I've tried from IT plug-in + SP2!
for ex.: Color Invert, Gaussian Blur, Pointillize, Hatched Screen…

Hi dugnsand and Jean-Jacques!

There really were a problem with saving modified images. I did not recognize that I was using a new version of SP that don't have the problem you have met.

Update to 2.0.2 (249):

Nick-

I just downloaded this update you posted and intalled it. Unfortunately it seems to have installed the previous update (247) not 249. SP 247 is the version that I had been using. I am confused. Was this to be a fix for the grayscale - B&W problem? If so, it does not fix the problem as far as I can see.

Hi dugnsand,
The new v2.02 (249) fixes the "grayscale - BW" bug (a more general bug in fact).

Nick-

With a little side help from Jean-Jaques I was finally able to download version 249. It seems to have fixed things nicely. Thank you for such a quick fix for this bug. I wonder can you tell me when I receive the boxed version, will I have to download this file once again? Thanks again - and thank you Jean Jaques
