Hello! I'm so glad I stumbled onto this software. It is a breath of fresh air.

I use Photoshop CS quite a bit but want to use Swift Publisher for quick documents and stuff. The only thing I see lacking is the ability to stroke text to make it stand out more from the background. Am I missing it?

Also, can you create an alpha channel from imported clipart? if I have a picture against, say a blue background, could I click the background and have it wiped out (like the magic eraser in photoshop)?

I know this program isn't photoshop, but just wanted to see if I was missing anything.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Bill,

Regarding creating alpha channel from images: Please check out our latest version of Image Tricks. After installing the program you'll get additional abilities in Image Edit dialog (double click on a picture) and then find Transparent Color filter. I hope it helps you.

One significant detail: Image Tricks will work on Mac OS 10.4 and later.

Hi,
Well, there's an "alternate" way to make this effect.
First, duplicate your text.
Next, use the Format>Font>Outline to make the stroke part of the text, the text color will be the stroke color.
Then place this text object over the "normal" one.
With (Extra) Black/Bold font in big size you can get things like this (font is Impact).

There're some serious limitations like no joins (as you can see on the m, p and a chars), no stroke widths but sometimes it may be usefull.
Hope this helps.
