I am working with a printer who is asking me to make sure all my full page images "extend outside the cut marks on all 4 sizes." Anyone know how to do this?

Hi kirinmd,

The issue concerns images that create the page background, and those that reach the paper edge. This has to do with exporting documents to PDF or other graphic files for sending to the printer.

Examples.

1. There is blank space along the paper edge. You don't need to do anything with the background image.

2. These pages have solid color and image in the background that fit the whole page. Here you need to extend images as requested.

Depending on your design, you should make all such graphics bigger so that part of it is outside the page.

At printing or exporting with default settings, part of images outside the page is cropped. The printer wants you activate the Bleed feature to to have exported file bigger than the actual page to be able to trim it. Pictures on this page can illustrate this.

The left picture shows what you might have now. The right one shows how you need to place the image in relation to the paper edge (black line).
