New Image Unit and progress indicators

Hi Nick
I'm "working" on a new set of "painting/drawing" effects that should be wrapped in a new image unit (and maybe, later, in a new standalone application).
Here're some examples of these effects (none of them effects are "public release" ready, yet):

If needed, you may get bigger images of the same examples for more details

As you can imagine, these effects really need some power from the CPU/GPU, especially with big images (say from 8M pixels) so, I think that it should be really more user friendly if IT could display some kind of progress bar or circular progress indicator […] when processing images (not necessary my own image units of course).

Hi Jean-Jacques,

I'll ask the developers about displaying the progress. Many depends on whether or not the procedure that processes the image can send the progress feedback.
